travefy travel organizerHawaii 5-0!

A friend recently turned me on to a travel organizer called http://www.travefy.com. It’s a free website that gives you the tools you need to keep track of your travel info and activities.

Six of my best friends from college turn 50 this year. They decided to have a 50th birthday party next month: Hawaii 5-0! Ten of us are going to a reunion on the Big Island, and we are all bringing our families. There are going to be almost 40 people ranging from 2 to 55 years old.

Have you ever tried to plan a week-long vacation for just your family? It’s hard enough to keep track of flights, cars, hotels, and activities just for yourself. Try keeping track of all the moving pieces for 10 families!

As the emails passed fast and furiously among us, it became hard to remember who was arriving at what time, how many cars we rented, and who wanted to participate in each activity.

I turned to travefy.com to help me sort it all out. I created each day we were there, and added each idea as an activity. Then I assigned people to activities so that I could tell who wanted to do what. As the plans evolved, I could drag-and-drop the activities to each day.

Discussion boards allow us to talk about the plans without clogging up our email. Polls gather opinions as we decide what to do.

Entering all our final decisions on Travefy.com made it easy for me to see all the pieces fall into place.

The “Discover” screen is a local activities search tool, but because all I saw were vacation rental units and restaurants, I’m sure it’s paid advertising placement.

A “Collect and Pay for Expenses” tool tallies who paid how much to whom, and for what. At the end of the trip, it will spit out a report calculating the reimbursements. It will even allow us to pay each other through their portal.

In addition, there’s a smartphone app to access the data, but you can’t use it to make changes to the itinerary.

Travel agents can use the upgraded Travefy Professional plan to coordinate trips for, and communicate with, their clients.

I’ll can’t wait to see my best friends from my formative years, and meet their families. Travefy.com is taking away the stress from getting to see the “lava” my life in Hawaii!
