Quickbooks

Now that it’s January again, the attention of business owners large and small turns to their accounting systems. Since so many entrepreneurs declare their intentions for the new year, they sit down in front of the their computers with their bank statements and are immediately stumped.

Only one week into January, I’ve already set up QuickBooks and Quicken for 3 people. It’s one of my favorite things to do, which says more about me than I’d care to admit.

I don’t just sit down in front of your computer and hand you a generic accounting system. I like to ask you questions that guide how you think about your business, and how you approach everything from balancing your checkbook to billing your customers.

The end result is a custom Quickbooks accounting system that takes your needs into consideration.

And, by the time we’re done, you also know what to do after I walk out the door. Sometimes I even create custom instructions manuals, if you need me to.

It’s not a fast process – sometimes it takes 5 or 10 hours. But that upfront investment pays off at tax time. Ideally, if you’ve been diligent about doing your books every few days, when it’s time to generate that Schedule C, all you have to do is a run a report, or hand your file to your accountant.

If you haven’t gotten started with Quickbooks yet, your first decision is whether you need Quickbooks, Quickbooks Online, or just Quicken. Not sure? Give me a shout – I’ll be happy to help!
